Iron is a vital component of haemoglobin (a substance found in red blood cells) that carries oxygen from the lungs to the whole body. Haemoglobin makes up about two-thirds of the iron in the body. If the body lacks iron, it cannot produce enough healthy red blood cells. This disrupts oxygen transport, which can lead to fatigue, immune system problems, shortness of breath and an increase in heart rate. Traditional methods of taking iron supplements (such as pills, capsules and fluids) can cause gastrointestinal discomfort, but with the use of an iron spray this mineral enters the bloodstream directly without such irritation.
